The main aim of the research was to prove that there is a difference between the two, which was not the case since both have similar affinity à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ which can lead us to the conclusion that there is no significant difference. The insignificant results were brought about by the inadequacy of data relating to other symptoms of MS or related symptoms that could have been the cause of the attrition that was discovered in the patients. The Effect of Consumer Culture on Education Consumer culture has without a doubt affected my education. Education involves many things we value, and much of what we value has been bought. Whether it be the calculators we use in math class or the texts we read in English, commodities are helping teach us to do things. On another level however , consumer culture affects our personal education in that we act and think differently than we might if our culture was less about that which can be bought or sold. How do you acquire knowledge? How can we know the nature of reality? That is the question that epistemology asks. But what is epistemology itself and where does it come from? Epistemology focuses on studying knowledge and justified beliefs. What is it that makes knowledge enough and what makes justified beliefs justifiable? Immanuel Kant was a German philosopher born on April 22nd, 1724. He was the man who attempted to build a bridge between the empiricists and the rationalists. When looking at these two schools of thought one can see that they truly are polar opposites. Empiricist s focus is that all knowledge becomes known to us through the senses. Knowledge is experience based. John Locke attempted to explain this stance by dividing this theory into two ideas. The first is that there are simple ideas and the second is that there are complex ideas. Simple ideas are based on what we see. Factors like color, shape, size, texture, etc. come into play here. The complex ideas are simple ideas combined. In this novel, there are three main characters which are Misha Pilsudski, Janina Milgrom, and Uri. He had no friends, and he just kept on running for forever. His identity was born when Uri gave him his name and his fake life story under the barbershop. Misha was very proud of his identity, and when somebody asked him who he was, he said his story it like it was the greatest thing in the world to him. One event in the story that contradicts this is when Uncle Shepsel tries to give up his identity as a Jew. His efforts were pretty good, but they still weren’t successful in the end. The last possible theme that I think is good for this book is to never have fear and if you do have fear, you won’t survive. One event that supports this theme is when Uri tells the other orphan boys that if you have fear you won’t survive on the streets. This is true because if the boys had fear to steal the food from stores and people they would mess-up a lot or not even do it. If that happened, they would either get caught and killed, or just end up starving cause of hunger. They key point of stealing the food was to be invisible and if you had fear, you wouldn’t be invisible. I learned many things about the historical events that occurred in this story. I learned that all the Jews had to move to a place called â€Å"the Ghetto†. It seems weird that people can be so mean to others just because they’re a different religion but they’re still good people on the inside. Another thing I learned was what the Holocaust was. If you haven’t worked with an editor before, you may be disconcerted by the amount of editing that has been done. But whether you’re a novice or a veteran, these guidelines will help you have a productive relationship with the editor. 1. Respect Objectivity An editor experiences your work dispassionately. Whether he or she simply engages with a decent manuscript or exults in the opportunity to help craft a classic, the editor is not emotionally involved. Take advantage of this fortunate fact by carefully considering any changes, comments, or suggestions the editor makes about your work Is a character in a novel too good or too evil, or inconsistent in behavior or inadequately portrayed? Is your how-to book poorly organized or too sparse or too dense? Have you inserted yourself too obtrusively into an essay? An editor will let you know. Trust his or her outside perspective. An editor is the reader’s representative, and as he or she reacts to the content, so, likely, will your intended readership. 2. Cool Off If something an editor does or says puts you off, do not respond immediately.
